ABC Mood Board(s) Wren Lively
Hello! So in going about making this mood board, I had absolutely too many ideas and kept finding different inspiration, but thought it might help to just put them all out there!
One idea that I had which is kind of abstract and still not sure how or if I fully want to implement it is this infomercial thing from 1989 (which got sued for fraud in 1991) called "Mega Memory." It is basically a list of 20 items that correlate to the numbers 1-20 and can help you memorize things. I think this is a really interesting idea and might be cool to play with these images corresponding to the letters and what number they are in the alphabet? It's kind of abstract, but I also liked the aesthetic of the book, and tried to mimic it with the color pallete, just to see what it would look like.
While researching design and fonts from the late 80s I happened upon this really great and helpful website and found some designs that I really loved and decided to play with these fonts and color palettes. One of my favorites is the "I Fell in Love With a Prostitute" album, but I wasn't sure where to go with the design.
Some of my other ideas of a theme were to do an alphabet of plants (likely house plants because I have too many) or to do something with hats because I have a large collection of them. Played around with some designs based on these themes and the designs that I had liked.
On a completely different note, I thought it would be fun to do a design based on the CTA (or just any public transportation) and I drew from the colors of a CTA map, and was playing with a possible design.
Overall I just have a lot of scattered ideas but am generally excited about them all!
Okay upon going to take a picture of my sketches I thought of another fun idea that might not be as complex/confusing as some of the others! I really like cats and it might be cool to have cat silhouettes interacting with the letterforms? This would probably be done with black and white and pops of color? Maybe the cats could be interacting with the parts of the letter (bowl, apex etc)
