ABCs
I realize this is late, and unfinished. I am hoping to redo most of this project. I had many difficulties this week. I had to redo a lot of things. But this is my work so far, looking forward to feedback and how i can improve the quality of this work. I feel that some of these I really progressed with my type skills, and some I really am failing to deliver. All in all, due to specific circumstances I did not finish this project the way I wanted to but I am looking to finish this weekend to keep up the quality of my work. thanks - marlee
Several of these: Beat and Zumba are excellent in expressive hand-rendered typography incorporating beautifully arranged formal typographic information. However, as we have discussed extensively in class, you cannot include illustrations in this assignment. These can make excellent portfolios pieces (with tweaks); they are lively and engaging. But they do not meet the requirements of the assignment. I suggest that you remove the illustrations and see what you can do with TYPOGRAPHY. The reason for this is to encourage examining typographic form and possibility very carefully, which is necessary for advanced typography research and expression. You can take as much time as you need to finish (an extension is available to all students), though other assignments must be handled in the future as well.
ReplyDeleteI think your designs are very well designed, your project is one of my favorites. I do think that some of your letters are too illustrative, but I think if you can transfer the expressive lines and shapes from the illustration into type it would work out well.
ReplyDeleteThis is very very well done and integrated well. Your choices of placement and color are excellent. Perhaps in order to add more type to this project you might want to remake those same images but out of type, with maybe some lyrics from the genre or from just a repeat of the letter or something.
ReplyDeleteYour designs turned out very aesthetically pleasing and although each one represents a different style of dance I can still see consistent elements in your piece that let me know they all belong in the same "set". Very nice job!
