Overall, the Section Opener is much more successful then the Chapter Opener.
Here are my thoughts on the Chapter Opener: The use of the color palette feels very disjointed in the chapter opener. The left page and the right page do not feel cohesive. The color palette has a lot to do with it. The red and peach with the black and green do not complement one another. There are too many things going on on this spread and I am not sure where to start. -- Chatper Title and Chapter number should be flopped in placement and in importance. Again use of color red and black is not working and makes this feel disjointed. The page numbers in the peach box scream out compared to the section information. The labels World and USA are lost in the gutter and is disconnected physically and visually from the rest of the timeline. The use of color in the timeline is not purposeful, why the black, green, and light green? What does that mean? The photo is too dark and muddy.
As I said, the Section Opener is more successful. I like how the Building Background information starts the section. But, I would flip the Section Title and Section number. That looks awkward. – I do not see as much information as the other students work. I am not sure if the student purposely chose to leave a lot of the information off the spread.
