I would still like to play with the layout on the first side of the spread. I found that it was very awkward and random and I want to play around with that.
Cool mood board; you might consider expanding your type choices to include a serif for emphasis or a text choice. Consider using the light blue in your color palette in some fashion on your opening spread; the beige / rust could use more counterpoint. The color block behind the chapter title might need to be minimized a tad. The type cut-out is interesting.
One more point, more space is needed between the sections; right now there is less space between each section, than the space within the sections. If this is not clear, I can show you in class...
