Camille Roubik - 3D Concept, Moodboard, and Progress

My concept for this project is to form the word "tacky" out of tacks. I am going to stick the tacks into a white foam board, and make it the tackiest piece of art possible. I plan to dump glitter, sequins, maybe even feathers, to really have fun with it. Initially, I was going to try to write out, "Is this tacky?", but with the project deadline quickly approaching, I figured just the one word will suffice. I decided to do a test run on my idea, just to make sure it would work. In saying that, my progress photo is my test run.

A couple of things I noticed was that it became difficult to read the word because the tacks are clear. So, I decided to hot glue sequins on top of the push pins so the word was more readable. I am also planning to increase the size of the letters, because I realized I wrote them out much smaller than they should be. The tacks that are scattered around the board aren't actually going to be in the final product, I was just working ahead and gluing the sequins to them, and I didn't know where else to put them for now!

I'm super excited for this project; I think that sometimes we get so carried away in the digital realm that we forget how refreshing it is to work with crafty materials. I feel like 5th grade me again :)
